James Alan Hetfield is the guitarist, co-founder, main songwriter, and lead vocalist for the legendary heavy metal band Metallica. Hetfield co-founded Metallica in October 1981.

James said that Aerosmith was his main musical influence when he was a child, and stated that they were the reason he wanted to play guitar. He also listen to Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Motörhead, Thin Lizzy, Ted Nugent and Deep Purple

James Hetfield was a janitor before making it big with Metallica.
